Ian Mackie to Retire from LaSalle Investment Management in December 2018

SYDNEY (July 13, 2018) — LaSalle announced today that Ian Mackie, Head of Strategic Partnerships – Asia Pacific, and member of itsAsia Pacific Investment Committee, will retire at the end of the year, after an illustrious 40-year career with the firm.

Ian first joined Jones Lang Wootton in 1978 as a retail leasing agent in Sydney, transitioning into real estate investment management in tandem with the firm’s evolution into LaSalle Investment Managementafter the merger of Jones Lang Wootton with LaSalle Partners in 2000. As one of LaSalle’s pioneer employees in Asia Pacific, Ian established LaSalle’s business platform in the Asia Pacific, recruiting staff and opening LaSalle offices in Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. Today, the platform is 172-people strong, spread across six offices in the region.

Ian was also instrumental in initiating LaSalle’s stellar reputation as a real-estate focused investment manager in the region.

Following the merger in 2000, Ian launched and raised capital for LaSalle Asia Recovery Fund, the firm’s first Asia fund. In the following years, as President for the first two iterations of both the LaSalle Japan Logistics Fund series and LaSalle Asia Opportunity Fund series, Ian’s deep experience across a vast array of transactions – leasing and sales brokerage, joint venture developments, joint venture platforms, acquisitions, dispositions, portfolio management, fund management, capital raising, client management, and business development – played a pivotal role in LaSalle generating impressive returns on the platforms, cementing LaSalle’s reputation as a top investment manager for opportunistic / value-add real estate strategies, and in the regional logistics sector.

Mark Gabbay, Chief Executive Officer – Asia Pacific, LaSalle Investment Management, says: “Ian is one of the most respected fund management professionals in the industry, and both LaSalle and many colleagues have benefitted greatly from his guidance and mentorship in his 40 years with the firm. I have enjoyed working with him over the past eight years as our platform has continued to evolve in different directions, and applaud his flexibility, dedication and professionalism to our mission of delivering returns to investors and developing our Australia business. LaSalle thanks him for his many years of dedicated service, and wish him the best in his retirement or next endeavour.”

Ian Mackie, retiring Head of Strategic Partnerships – Asia Pacific, LaSalle Investment Management, says: “It has been a privilege and a genuine honour to have worked at one firm for 40 years. Every time I felt I needed a change in direction in my career, the extraordinary breadth of the JLL/LaSalle platform was able to throw up a new opportunity that was both a challenge, really interesting, and really exciting. There was never a need to look elsewhere! Across my entire time at the JLL/LaSalle platform, the thing that stands out the most to me is the calibre and integrity of its people. To have worked with and for so many of those people, captains of our industry, has been marvelous.”
