LaSalle Investment Management is seeking a Portfolio Associate to join its Portfolio and Asset Management teams in our Chicago office.  The Portfolio Associate works directly with the Portfolio Manager on the development and implementation of client real estate strategy.


  • Take primary responsibility for developing actionable portfolio analysis for the portfolio management team to promote strategic thinking
  • Assist portfolio manager on the development and preparation of annual strategic plans for each investment vehicle
  • Conduct financial analyses including cash flow projections and Argus valuation models at a consolidated portfolio level
  • Evaluate portfolio-level investment performance
  • Oversee asset analysts in development of annual operating budgets, appraisal review and internal valuation to comply with client requirements and deadlines
  • Primary responsibility for coordination and review of client reporting and presentation preparation to ensure compliance with client investment management agreements
  • Analyze hold/sell recommendations and develop strategic plans to maximize client returns
  • Provide analytical support to colleagues in the areas of fund operations and asset management
  • Assist asset managers and asset analysts on more complex analysis including financings and dispositions
  • Provide training and coaching to asset analysts and cover workload as needed
  • Work across portfolios with other portfolio managers and portfolio analysts/associates to develop best practices and design and implement efficiency measures
  • Work with asset class Sector Leader to analyze LaSalle’s portfolio and find operating opportunities across an asset class
  • Track transaction activity across your portfolio including acquisitions, dispositions and financings
  • Represent the Portfolio and Asset Management teams in firm-wide projects and create executive level relationships
  • Present portfolio level analysis to North American Investment Committee
  • Assist in the ESG Initiatives across the Fund to aid in Fund certifications


Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in real estate, finance, accounting, or economics or related field with strong record of academic achievement
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with commercial real estate valuations or in real estate finance
  • Highly skilled in modeling investments in Excel; Argus experience is strongly preferred 
  • Advanced knowledge of DCF, NPV and cash flow models
  • Strong financial and analytical ability with solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Highly-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive thinking with detail-oriented and creative problem-solving approach
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States for a minimum of 5 years
