Description of Role

The Compliance Associate position is critical to the day-to-day support of LaSalle’s Compliance program.  This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to employ their compliance knowledge and technologies experience to fulfill the various regulatory responsibilities for LaSalle’s affiliated regulated businesses that operate in the Americas.  The position does require a working knowledge of compliance systems and the understanding of the information that flows through them in connection with the firms’ regulatory responsibilities, such as the opening and closing of brokerage accounts, personal trade reviews, maintenance of watch and restricted lists, and performing initial reviews and assessments of outside business activities, political contributions and employee private investment activities.  Other significant work will include maintenance of records for the firm’s broker-dealer business and its registered representatives, filings on Web CRD, monitoring employee onboarding and departures to ensure the timely collection of information, delivery and maintenance of documents, filing of regulatory reports and performing AML/KYC reviews.

Key Experience

Prior experience working for a regulated business, such as broker-dealer, investment advisor, futures commission merchant or commodity trading advisor, or any regulatory body supervising such entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point person of the firm’s compliance systems and regulatory disclosure databases, such as Web CRD and Schwab Compliance Technologies (“Schwab”) to assist employees in all facets of their compliance requirements
  • Maintenance, monitoring and updating LaSalle’s compliance calendar on Schwab, including forensic testing of information embedded with the compliance systems
  • Assist with the completion, review and/or filing (as applicable depending on complexity) of regulatory filings for the firm’s regulated investment advisory and broker-dealer businesses
  • Support day-to-day aspects of Code of Ethics, including employee personal trade reporting reviews, ensuring brokerage account electronic feeds are correctly maintained, and ensuring ongoing compliance responsibilities identified in the compliance calendar are addressed and resolved
  • Perform e-mail surveillance under the supervision of senior compliance officers
  • Perform new employee onboarding 
  • Perform anti-money laundering and know your customer reviews in accordance with firm policy
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects, including support of CCOs for regulatory examinations and projects originated by the Americas General Counsel

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of experience working in a regulatory and/or compliance-driven environment
  • Series 7 and 24 a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong ethics
  • Discretion and ability to handle sensitive information on a confidential basis are critical requirements
  • Desire and ability to collaborate in a team environment across departments and seniority levels while employing professionalism and collegiality is essential
