LaSalle Investment Management (“LaSalle”) today announces that it will be extending the main anchor unit at the High Chelmer Shopping Centre in Chelmsford, Essex from 37,000 square feet to 61,000 square feet. The new anchor store will be leased to Primark, while JJB is relocating from the current anchor store to a new 12,000 square feet flagship unit which is being created from the demolition of three existing units. Primark will be open in the autumn of 2012.
Steve Bateman of LaSalle Investment Management, said: “Securing Primark at High Chelmer cements its position as Chelmsford’s primary fashion pitch and complements recent lettings to Topshop / Topman, Miss Selfridge, New Look, River Island, Republic, La Senza and Office. High Chelmer is a great example of getting the right mix of tenants and employing an active asset management strategy to maximize the returns for our investors and to Chelmsford Borough Council, the freeholders with whom we enjoy a close working relationship.”
Cllr Roy Whitehead, Leader of Chelmsford Council, said “We are delighted that our efforts to enhance High Chelmer in the past few years have culminated in Primark, a store identified by Chelmsford residents as one of their top priorities for the town, opening a large new store in 2012.”
LaSalle was advised by Cushman & Wakefield LLP, Primark acted for themselves, CB Richard Ellis advised New Look and BCL advised JJB.
